CULTURE / HISTORY
Mysterious castles, museums, UNESCO-listed temples, fairs and craft festivals…
Experience the highlanders’ culture along the Route around the Tatras and wandering about the neighbouring areas.
Traditional products and handicrafts, regional groups’ performances, workshops and theatre plays can be found on the annual Podhale Fair in NowyTarg, as well as on The European Folk Craft Festival in Kežmarok. It is also worth seeing the “redyk” - trailing of the sheep, the most extraordinary celebration in Polish mountains. In spring, the herds of over 1500 sheep are trailed by the shepherds through the streets of Jaworki to the mountain pastures, just to come back in autumn through the streets of Szczawnica.
