Museum of Printing in Nowy Targ

ul. Jana III Sobieskiego 4,
34-400 Nowy Targ

It is one of the most attractive places along the Route around the Tatras. Entering the museum, you will find yourselves in a former publishing house, recreated based on a workshop run by Ignacy Borek since 1989 in Nowy Targ. The original machinery and furnishings will show you the old techniques and how the printing process used to look. The most valuable museum piece here is the only preserved printing machine from the mid-19th century, originating from the Vienna factory of printing machines founded by Christian Leo Müller and Fredrich Helbig in 1836. The exhibition, which encompasses an impressive collection of old prints and photographs, as well as interactive applications, will present you with the cultural, social, political and economical life of Nowy Targ from the beginning of the 20th century. When planning a longer stay in Nowy Targ, especially with kids, we recommend checking out the workshop offer of the museum and taking part in, for example, the workshop “Let’s make a book”. Free of charge.
